Chris_WongI am a digital communications and marketing strategist. Areas of focus include: writing and managing requests for proposals (RFPs) for web and other digital projects; managing website redesigns for organizations and small businesses; writing and editing for the web and other mediums; content strategy; and providing Instagram strategy. I can also provide all of these services, and others, as a one-man communications and marketing department. Before becoming a consultant, I managed communications and marketing at the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC) as the Senior Manager, Communications & Marketing. Prior to that role, I held communications positions with the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research (MSFHR), BC’s Children’s Hospital, and AIDS Vancouver. I managed website redesign projects at JIBC and MSFHR. I began my career as a journalist, working as a reporter with the Vancouver Sun and researcher at CBC-TV News. I was also a contributor and columnist with the Georgia Straight, Vancouver Courier, Business in Vancouver, and Globe and Mail.

 

A graduate of the University of British Columbia with a BA in political science, I have completed numerous professional development courses with institutions such as UBC and Simon Fraser University and attended many conferences and workshops on web communications, content strategy, and other related areas.

I am writing a book on jazz history in Vancouver. I am also a musician, DJ, and runner.
